The Beginning

In the heart of the Waitaki district, a vision was ignited in the mind of Matua, a seasoned scaffolder with a decade of experience under his belt. Working alongside a local scaffolding business, he saw a glaring gap in the market—a void in personalised service, a lack of strong partnerships between businesses and clients. It was here that the seeds of U&I were sown, blossoming from the humble beginnings of a family striving to make ends meet.

From the Founder:

With every sunrise, My partner and and I poured our hearts into the fledgling business. Working tirelessly, often late into the night, crafting solutions that spoke to the unique needs of their clients in the construction and mining sectors.

We understood that scaffolding was not just metal and wood; it was the backbone of ambitious projects. The "U" and "I" in U&I represented more than just a business name; it embodied a commitment to collaboration and partnership, a promise to stand shoulder to shoulder with their clients.

As the days turned into months, our dedication began to pay off. Word spread about our respectful approach, our unwavering reliability, and our knack for understanding the intricacies of each project. With each new contract, our family business transformed.  Going from a small operation to employing five skilled staff members, each one trained on the job, each one given opportunities that seemed a distant dream just a year prior.

We weren’t just building scaffolding; we were erecting a community of trust, a network of professionals who believed in the small guy surrounded by the industry giants of Dunedin. 

In the year that followed my vision transcended as just a small business, it became the start of a  legacy of empowerment, a commitment to lifting up both clients and employees alike.

Today, U&I stands strong, a thriving entity that continues to uphold its values in the scaffolding industry, one partnership at a time.
